Located in the heart of downtown Sevierville, Carl Hatcher Furniture has become a staple of the area, offering a family-owned feel to selling furniture.
Founded in 1972 by Carl and Lucille Hatcher, the store built a name for itself by offering top of the line service and products.  When the Hatchers retired in 1992, they maintained that tradition by keeping the business in the family.  Their daughter Becky Duncan and her husband Marty, who had worked at the store since 1985, bought the property.
Since then, they’ve kept the doors open in the exact same location, weathering a fire that destroyed the original building and a shaky economy from which they’ve not yet fully recovered.  All the while, Sevier County has remained their market of choice.
“If we can sell Sevier County furniture, we really don’t need to sell anywhere else,” Marty said.
To maintain the store’s trademark quality, he indicated that they focus on offering name brands like Certa and La-Z-Boy at competitive prices and by covering all categories from living rooms to bed rooms.
“People will find more recliners and sleeper sofas here than anywhere else,” Marty said.
Catering to popular overnight rentals, an 1800 square foot log cabin was built inside the store.  And to cater to everyone else, special deals and savings are available to everyone else along with their custom order program.
“We’ve got something going on all the time,” Marty said.
Carl Hatcher Furniture is located at 307 Court Avenue in Sevierville.  Check them out online at www.carlhatcherfurniture.com.
