Twenty-four Sevier County students have received scholarships to attend Walters State Community College.
Bethany Harkness, a nursing major, and Molly Spurlock, an elementary education major, both from Sevierville, received Walters State Presidential scholarships. Jodie Wood, a pre-dentistry major from Seymour also received a Walters State Presidential scholarship.
Charles A. “Z” and Annette Buda Trust Scholarships were awarded to Shandi Ownby, a psychology major; and Daniel Speelman, a culinary arts major, both of Sevierville.
Kathryn Store, a nursing major from Sevierville, received the Elemer and Charlotte Von Rostas Scholarship. Stephanie Huskey, a nursing major from Sevierville, received the Jack and Kathryn Flinn Memorial Scholarship. Jacob Nicholson, a biology major from Seymour, received the John and Ruby Fox Endowed Scholarship. Samuel Thomas, a pre-dental major also from Seymour, received the Simpson Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship.
Sevierville residents receiving academic performance scholarships include Gabrielle Baker, a pre-veterinary medicine major; Morgan Dodgen, a pre-pharmacy major from Sevierville; Megan Goff, a history major from Sevierville; Jacob Renfro, a general studies major from Sevierville; Clifford Sawyer, a business major; Dylan Sise, a general studies major; and Eric Sutton, a computer science major.
Academic performance scholarships were also awarded to these Seymour students: Erin Blaydes, a nursing major; Kelsey Cupp, also a nursing major; Stephanie Jennings, a pre-medicine major; Tyler Lepore, a pre-engineering major; Robert McClelland, a criminal justice major; and Kevin Nickens, a nursing major from Seymour;
From Kodak, Brianna Deyo, a culinary arts major, and Sydney Myers, a nursing major received academic performance scholarships.
The deadline for high school seniors to apply for 2012-13 Walters State scholarships is March 15. Applications will be available at www.ws.edu; click on the “financial aid” tab.
