The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department will welcome new officers in December for the 2012 year, including a new chief.
Current Assistant Chief Kevin Nunn was elected by his peers as the new chief at the SVFD’s Nov. 3 business meeting. He, along with the other elected officers, will formally start their new jobs at the end of December.
Other newly elected officers include Randell Moore as assistant chief, Jeremy Maiden and Courtney McCarter as captains, and Michael Cook, Chris Gribanow, Justin Thompson and Keith McCroskey as lieutenants.
Like all the other volunteers, the officer positions are unpaid. Elected terms for chief and assistant chief last three years, captains have two year terms, as well as lieutenants, with a special one year training position.
Officers retaining their posts are John Linsenbigler as deputy chief, Corky McCarter as assistant chief, Paul Trumpore as chaplain, Jerry Lohrber and Tim Geagley as captains, and John Headrick, John Perry and Mark Warren as lieutenants.
“Seymour Volunteer Fire Department has a great set of leaders,” Nunn said. “The community should be proud of these individuals.”
