The winning schools in the U.S. Cellular “Calling all Communities” contest will be announced soon, with Seymour schools hoping for another win.
The competition asked anyone with a cell phone account to vote daily for what school they wanted to take home prize money ranging from $50,000 to $150,000.
Last year, Seymour High School won after all four schools combined their votes, with the money being distributed across the board.  This ynnnnear the focus was on Seymour Primary, which was leading the vote count in the nation wide contest.
Anyone who was unable to vote daily could provide their information to the schools, where volunteers voted for them.
On Tuesday, supporting businesses provided lunch for the teachers at Seymour Middle School who volunteered to vote daily.
“It’s an appreciation for the teachers who worked so hard during ‘Calling all Communities,’” said Rebekah Hill with Computer Depot.  “It’s been an exhausting three weeks for them.”
The schools’ staff and volunteers are waiting with baited breath for the announcement of the winners later this week.
