


The Maryville College volleyball team closed out the 2011 regular season with a pair of match victories on “Senior Day” in MC’s Cooper Athletic Center.
MC opened the day honoring seniors Casey Merrill, Kayla Anderson, Katherine Nadler, and Kristin Findley before their match against Randolph College. Maryville quickly swept the Wildcats 3-0 by the scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-15.
Kristin Findley posted a double-double with a game-high 11 kills and 13 digs. Kayla Anderson attacked at a .385 pace en route to a seven kill performance. Kristy Newman added six kills to the Scots’ attack. Kara Strickland and Katherine Nadler paced the defense with 15 and 11 digs respectively. Casey Merrill added a pair of solo blocks.
In their final home hatch of the season, Maryville swept Emory & Henry College 3-0 by the scores of 27-25, 25-19, and 25-21. Kara Strickland and Kristin Findley each threw down nine kills. Kristy Newman added seven kills to the offensive attack. Findley led the defense with 18 digs while Strickland and Nadler each returned a dozen shot by digs.
Maryville (24-7) will enter the Great South Athletic Conference tournament next weekend as the league’s regular season champion and the tournament’s number one seed. The tournament will be November 4-5 in Demorest, Georgia.
