By winning three events in her first regular-season home meet as a Lady Vol, University of Tennessee freshman swimmer Molly Hannis has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Instrumental in helping the Big Orange defeat Indiana and Kentucky in a double dual meet this past Saturday; Hannis notched first-place times in the 100y breaststroke and 200y breaststroke. Nationally, Hannis' 100y breast clocking is also the fourth best in the country. A native of Santa Rosa, Calif., Hannis also swam a leg of the victorious 200y medley relay team that touched in at 1:40.81, which is also a B-cut time.
Earlier this season, she won the 200y breaststroke against UNC-Wilmington and placed first in the 100y breast event at the Orange and White exhibition meet.
