After falling behind 1-0, the Scots’ Men’s Soccer Team scored the last two goals, winning 2-1 on Saturday in Demorest, Georgia against Piedmont College.
In a game dominated by Maryville College, it was the Lions from Piedmont that scored first in the 54th minute. The Scots would waste little time in answering as senior Travis Bolton would find the back of the net with the help of Tyler Tinker in the 55th minute.
The game winning goal would also be Bolton from Tinker in the 59th minute. Maryville had the better of the play, outshooting Piedmont 13-8 while also putting eight on goal to only three for the Lions.
“We didn’t finish well early in the game despite having the better of the play and their first goal really woke us up. Travis really stepped up and helped us win a big game,” said head coach Pepe Fernandez.
The Scots move 11-4-2 on the year and 3-0 in Great South Athletic Conference play. Maryville closes out conference play when they travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to play the Scots of Covenant College on Monday. Game time is set for 7 pm.
