The Seymour Choral Department will honor local Veterans during Seymour High School’s 17th Annual Veterans Day Program next week.
The department will hold four programs over three days that will feature the Chorus singing a mixture of patriotic pieces and show tunes.
This year, the program’s special guest will be the Seymour High School Band. The band will play Taps among other numbers and the Flag Girls will also perform.
Another new addition this year will be a “drama within a drama.”
“It is a play within a play that examines war from a mother’s point of view with her child at war,” said SHS Choral Director Jean Burkhart.
The program, which takes place at Seymour High School (732 Boyds Creek Hwy.), will be held at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Nov. 3, 1:30 p.m. Nov. 4 and 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
Admission is free and all Veterans are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served in the school library immediately following each program.
“We do it to honor our Veterans,” Burkhart said. “It is always important to recognize our Veterans for the sacrifices they have made and the sacrifices they make every day.”
For more information call SHS at (865) 577-7040 or email Burkhart at jeanburkart@sevier.org.
