Seven additional drug suspects have been arrested in connection with the drug roundup conducted by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit last month.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said that the search for these suspects had been ongoing since the day of the initial roundup Sept. 22.
The investigation into the roundup lasted six months before the county went to a Grand Jury on Sept. 19 and received indictments for 40 suspects. The original roundup netted 17 individuals.
Some of the recently arrested suspects had fled the area prior to being indicted by the Grand Jury and were arrested in other jurisdictions.
“I have never had anyone I have not been able to locate,” said Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Official Randy Parton at the time of the original arrests. “I am not going to give up.”
Arrested were Diana K. Young, 40 of Sevierville; Bradley M. Childers, 31 of Pikeville, KY; Heather N. Clabough, 23 of Knoxville; Megan R. Merwin, 23 of Sevierville; James P. Hobson , 44 of Virgie, KY; Jacob A. Trentham, 26 of Sevierville; Bethany L. Lear, 20 of Sevierville.
The suspects will go through an arraignment, set a court date and have their cases go through a Circuit Court.
The Sheriff’s Office does a drug bust like the one in September three to four times a year.
