On senior day in front of 172 fans, the Maryville College Women’s Soccer team proved to be too much for the Hawks from Huntingdon College, winning by the score of 6-0 on Oct. 15.
The first goal of the afternoon was scored by senior Alex Wingo in the 14th minute on a penalty shot due to a hand ball in the box. The Scots second goal was scored by senior Jordan Chase once again on a penalty shot. The third goal of the game was Wingo’s second. This time the senior scored after the corner kick by Lauren Ward was deflected to her foot in the box.
The scoring in the second half was started by senior Mandy Seiler as she found the back of the net with the help of Ashley Howarth. The fifth goal of the afternoon went to Amber Ortiz from Wingo. Maryville would use a pair of seniors for the sixth goal when Seiler scored from Wingo.
“Today is one of my favorite days of the year; we get the opportunity to honor a great senior class. These ladies have been vital to our program’s success over the last four years and they will be missed greatly. I’m glad we played well and got a win today,” said head coach Pepe Fernandez.
With the win the Scots move to 10-2-2 overall and 7-0 in GSAC play.
