Maryville was able to dominate Huntingdon from start to finish, earning a 3-1 victory in front of 268 fans on senior day Oct. 15.
After forty minutes of hard fought play dominated by the Scots, a pair of seniors notched the first goal of the game as Travis Bolton found the twine with the help of Tom Webster. Maryville controlled the play throughout the first half outshooting Huntingdon 11-3 and having the only two corner kicks of the half.
After an early Huntingdon goal in the second half tied the game 1-1, a pair of seniors once again had the answer for the Scots. This time Ridge Carter played a beautiful ball to a streaking Brian Beckham and Beckham buried it in the back of the net. Maryville would add a third goal as Tyler Tinker made a sensational play on a ball from senior Sutton Cash.
“We have an exceptional senior class this year and I’m so happy to have had the privilege to coach these men over the last four years. It is only fitting they played so well today and got us another win,” said head coach Pepe Fernandez.
With the win Maryville moves to 9-2-2 overall and 2-0 in GSAC play.
