As the countdown to the “Calling all Communities” finale ticks closer, Seymour continues to pour votes into Seymour Primary School, helping it retain first place for the second week running.
“As of today, Seymour Primary is still in first place,” said Jan Moore, SPS principal, on Tuesday. “The up-dated list will be published again on Thursday.”
The nationwide contest asks voters to visit a U.S. Cellular store, pick up a voting card and enter a vote every day.
For anyone who is unable to vote every day, the schools are providing voter cards to be filled out with a name, date of birth, address, cell phone number and email address. Volunteers will be able to do the voting each day for anyone who provides this information.
The schools are combining votes to help SPS win, as they did with the high school last year. The $150,000 prize money will first be used by SPS and then be divided among the other schools.
For anyone interested in helping Seymour education, voting is still underway. The contest ends on Oct. 6.
