The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) has invited public and school libraries to apply for a free Moon viewing kit. To qualify for the kit, the applicants committed to hosting an International Observe the Moon Night (InOMN) event on Oct. 8. Additionally, each successful applicant is required to fulfill reporting requirements for the events.
The Sevier County Public Library System King Family Library and the Seymour Branch Library were both awarded InOMN Moon Viewing Kits, valued at $400 each to add to the library collections. The kits include binoculars for viewing the Moon, as well as children's books, a Moon map, and other resources for families to enjoy.
InOMN events are a way to celebrate the Moon with the community.
