Sevierville Police Department (SPD) officers have arrested 42-year old William J. Tucker of Sevierville on a charge of aggravated robbery.
SPD officers responded to a reported robbery at Mountain National Bank, 2140 Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66) at about 9:52 a.m. Sept. 19, Monday.
According to bank staff, a white man handed a note to a teller, demanding money and stating that he had a weapon. He was given an undisclosed amount of money, whereupon he left the bank. Witnesses reported that he was driving a maroon Nissan pathfinder.
At about 10:41 a.m., SPD Officer Jason Owens located the suspect vehicle on Gists Creek Road. The vehicle, which was occupied by four people, was stopped by Officer Owens and SPD Lt. Eddie Helton. One of the passengers was identified as Tucker, who was subsequently transported to the Sevierville Police Department, and then to the Sevier County Jail for booking.
No weapon was recovered. An undisclosed amount of cash was recovered. The investigation is ongoing and the SPD is being assisted by the Knoxville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
