The City of Sevierville Police Department (SPD) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a female and male suspected of two purse thefts this summer from the Sevierville Wal Mart, 1414 Parkway.
According to SPD Detective Lieutenant Sam Hinson, a female suspect, working with a male suspect allegedly took a purse from a shopper on June 11, 2011 and again on June 16, 2011.
Anyone with information concerning either of these alleged thefts is requested to contact Lt. Hinson at 865-453-5506.
The SPD recommends that shoppers pay close attention to purses and consider the following safe practices to reduce the likelihood of purse theft:
If the purse has a shoulder strap, wear the purse.
If the purse is placed in a shopping cart, wrap the child safety seat strap (if available and not being used to secure a child) around the purse strap and secure the safety seat strap buckle.
Close all purse zippers, buttons, and clasps.
Never leave purse unattended.
Consider leaving valuable and unneeded items at home.
