Walters State Community College welcomed seven new faculty members and administrators with the start of fall semester.
Chad Bryant of Morristown joins the college as an instructor of criminal justice. He holds two associate’s degrees in public safety and criminal justice from Walters State. He also holds degrees in criminal justice from Austin Peay State University and Faulkner University. He previously served as an officer with the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department and an adjunct faculty member at Walters State.
Dr. Eugene deSilva of Harrogate is an associate professor of physics. He holds a master’s degree in applied chemistry and a Ph.D. in physics and chemistry from Manchester Metropolitan University in England. He previously served as faculty member at Lincoln Memorial University.
Judy Hefner of Washburn joins the college as a systems analyst 2. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee. She previously worked as a systems analyst at Walters State through Teksystems.
Matthew Lawson of Dandridge is an instructor of speech. He holds an associate’s degree from Walters State, a bachelor’s in communication studies from Carson-Newman College and a master’s in professional communication from East Tennessee State University. Lawson was previously an adjunct instructor at Walters State.
Lorelei Shultz Moore of Harrogate is an assistant professor of nursing. She holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Walters State, a bachelor’s in nursing degree from King College and a master’s in nursing from Walden University. She was previously employed as an adjunct clinical instructor at Walters State and as a charge nurse for the emergency department at Wellmont Hancock County Hospital in Sneedville. Moore also served as the LPN instructor at the Tennessee Technology Center at Tazewell for 17 years.
Sandra Paduch of Knoxville joins the college as coordinator of website content and design. She holds a bachelor’s of fine arts in studio art from James Madison University. She previously worked as a website designer for Walters State in a temporary position. She has also worked for design firms.
Christie Dawn Wilson of Knoxville joins the faculty as an instructor of English. She holds a bachelor’s in English from Milligan College and a master’s in English from East Tennessee State University. She previously worked as an adjunct faculty member at Walters State and Pellissippi State and as an English instructor for the University of Phoenix.
