Maryville College golf coach Ron Waters won the Tennessee Senior Amateur Golf Championship in his first attempt on Thursday, August 18th at Council Fire Country Club in Chattanooga.
Waters fired rounds of 75-67-71 for a three under par total of 213. In the final round Waters eagled the par five 18th hole to come from two shots behind second round leader Doug Harris, of Franklin. Harris shot a final round of 74 and entered the final round with a three shot lead over Waters and two others.
In the playoff, the players matched pars on #1 and birdies on #2 before Harris’s approach at the par four third hole carried over the green resulting in a bogey. Waters was then able to two putt from 15 feet away for the victory.
The win is Waters first ever Tennessee Golf Association Championship.
