On Monday, the Sevier County Commission approved a resolution to fund work on the old hospital that was replaced by LeConte Medical Center in 2009.
According to Sevier County Communications Director Perrin Anderson, under the current resolution, half the building will be demolished while the rest will be renovated and put to further use.  
The county is still reviewing several options for what will go in the new structure, including a Veterans Clinic.
“They’ve been talking about a clinic for a long time,” Anderson said.  “But the Monday meeting was just to approve the resolution.”
Other possibilities being looked at include a county health department office and an East Tennessee State University satellite campus.
