Two out of three commissioners for the Sevier County Utility District have resigned as of June 28 and their replacements have been appointed.
The announcement from Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters included an expression of appreciation for the service of outgoing members David Ogle and George Seaton.  Responsibility for naming their replacements fell to Waters, who had been informed of the resignations more than a week prior.
“In an effort to act in the best interest of the Utility, it became apparent to George and I that our continued service was becoming a distraction, one which might continue for an extended time,” Ogle said.  “We did not want to be a further detriment to the service of the good men and women of SCUD in their efforts to carry out their mission.”
Ann Montgomery of Seymour will replace Ogle and Dr. Keith Whaley of Pigeon Forge replaces Seaton.
“We are both humbled to have been able to serve the people of Sevier County in many different capacities for a number of years,” Seaton said.  “It is now time that we let others have a chance to serve and allow the Utility to move forward with its business.”
