A local family was recently helped out by a group of volunteer high school students from Alabama.
Over 60 high school students from First Baptist in Saks, Alabama volunteered their time here in Sevier County after their Pastor, Jeremy Ford, contacted local volunteer group LIVE-IT to adopt one of the many projects the Seymour-based groups has recently taken on.
Sevierville residents Judy, a widow, and her 15-year-old son Adam were in need of some assistance completing many projects that had accumulated around their home.
With no husband and limited resources, Judy had not been able to keep up with the maintenance on her property, according to LIVE-IT organizers. They added that transient neighbors had been using her property as a dump as well.
The students took the project head on. They cleaned her property, performed yard work, and built her new steps and a landing to replace the rickety one she had been using.
