A Sevier County man has been arrested after attempting to set fire to a vehicle.
Kevin R. Billiter, 34 of Gatlinburg, has been charged with Criminal Intent/Setting fire to personal property after he attempted to set a family member’s vehicle on fire.
On May 18 Sevier County Sheriff’s Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at 2501 Herb Owenby Way in the Wears Valley Community.
Officers arrived and found Billiter standing beside a vehicle with the door open. Officers determined that the vehicle had been doused with accelerant after smelling the strong odor of gasoline.
The Sheriff’s Office Arson Investigator was dispatched to the scene where he found an ignition device in the gas spout of the car.
The investigation revealed that Blliter was attempting to burn the vehicle, which belonged to his mother, after he had an argument with her.

He is scheduled to appear in Sevier County General Sessions Court June on 15.
