Medic Regional Blood Center encourages eligible donors to please give blood during the summer months when donations traditionally decrease.
“It’s a difficult time for our community.  We see an increase in travel and recreation in our area and unfortunately those things can lead to accidents and traumas requiring blood transfusions.  We ask donors to please make blood donation a priority this summer,” said Christi Fightmaster, Medic Spokesperson.
To incentivize donors, Medic is offering freebies.  All donors will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A and a Tennessee Smokies T-shirt.
There is also a weekly drawing for a pair of flex tickets good for any Smokies home game.
Donors are asked to visit one of Medic’s two donor centers:  1601 Ailor Avenue or 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut.  Community drives are also planned (check the community calendar on B6 for upcoming drives).
All donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds (16 year-olds, weighing 120 pounds can donate but must have parental consent). All donors must have positive identification.
