The Seymour Farmer’s Market has officially begun its 2011 season.
The market will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. every Saturday through mid-October at the First Baptist Church on Chapman Hwy.
This year the market has made some additions, such as cookie decorating for Father’s Day, a visit from the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department in July, and a watermelon day in August.
From September through the end of the season local crafters can join the market to sell their handmade creations.
Market organizers invite local farmers and gardeners to become part of the market. Agricultural products, which vendors produce and grow themselves, such as fruits, vegetables, eggs, honey, plants, cut flowers and herbs, are all welcome. Area crafters are asked to contact organizers in advance about the fall season.
All vendors are asked to bring their own tables, scales and bags.
Small businesses who wish to sell agricultural products such as jellies, baked goods, hot sauces, etc. should bring a copy of their health inspection papers and license.
The charge to sell at the market is $3 a week or $25 for a season. These fees are used to cover operational expenses.
