The Seymour High School Jazz Band performed at the 11th annual Main Street Jazz Fest in Murfreesboro, TN earlier this month.
The band, under the instruction of director Brittney Mays Butler, was one of 50 groups invited to participate at this year’s festival and the only East Tennessee band to ever play in the history of the event.
Bands at the event performed in front of thousands of people in the Murfreesboro town square and the festival is described as a small version of the New Orleans Jazz Fest held every year.
The SHS Jazz Band, now in its second year, has already been invited to perform at next year’s festival by organizers.
