One World, Many Stories is the summer reading program theme this for the Sevier County Public Library System. Children will explore the culture of the world through stories, songs, games, and other activities.
The 2011 Summer Reading Program is open and free of charge for all ages starting with children in preschool through 6th grade, with programs, prizes, story hours, a reading club, and more. Teens and adults can also be involved in the Summer Reading Program (SRP) with special activities and prize drawings.
The SRP Kick-Off Event for all SCPLS locations including the Seymour and Kodak Branches will be June 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SCPLS King Family Library located at 408 High Street in Sevierville.
Come visit China Town with special guests, Chinese acrobats and performers from Cirque de Chine & Soul of Shaolin at the kick-off event.
Additionally, Tennessee Smokies mascots (Slugger & Diamond), NASCAR SpeedPark mascot (Sparkie the Sparkplug) & Tennessee Valley Fair mascot (Jasper the Rooster) will make guest appearances. For more information, call the library at (865) 365-1423.
