Two Seymour teenagers were taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident blocked off Chapman Highway Monday afternoon.
Traffic was blocked at the intersection of Simmons Road and Chapman Hwy. while responders from the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, Sevier County Ambulance Service, and the Gatlinburg Fire and Rescue Service worked the scene.
The crash occurred at 1:23 p.m. when the 17-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Impala pulled out in front of an oncoming Chevrolet pick-up truck and was struck.
Both the driver of the Impala and her 17-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance as a precaution. The driver of the second pick-up truck was not injured.
Sevier County Sheriff’s deputies kept traffic flowing by redirecting cars along Simmons Road. The highway was quickly cleared soon after.
On Tuesday, the 17-year-old driver was cited for failure to yield and for not wearing a seatbelt.
