
The Maryville College baseball team dropped their second consecutive Great South challenge and fifth game in a row as the Piedmont College Lions took the second game of a three-game series at Loudermilk Field by the score of 7-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Piedmont junior pitcher Caleb Cochran struck out a dozen Scots while scattering six hits in a strong nine inning complete game performance against the orange and garnet.
The Lions touched starter Scott Roselli for seven runs, six earned, in 3.1 innings of work on the mound. The right-hander walked five while striking out two.
MC’s six-hit offensive attack was paced by Cory Kopec. The outfielder, hitting .387 on the season, went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Senior third baseman Blaine Reese delivered his first homerun of the season and 11th RBI of the year to help the Scots.
