Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville presents its 9th 5K race, the New Balance Girls on the Run 5K, on May 1 beginning at 3 p.m.
Girls ages 8 to 14 years old, along with their families, friends and the general public are invited to participate in the race that will be held at Tyson Park, located at 2351 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. The unique non-competitive race’s goal is not to finish first but rather to encourage a lifetime of healthy living and self-respect.  
“This is a race that is the beginning of a lifetime of self-respect, and it’s about standing proud each day for being who you are,” said Raellen Simpson, Executive Director and Race Director of the New Balance Girls on the Run 5K.
This promises to be a fun, family event that will highlight healthy living for everyone. The entry fee for the New Balance Girls on the Run 5K Race is $15. Anyone can participate in the race and register the day of the race beginning at 1p.m. at Tyson Park.
