Representatives of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl announced today that this year’s annual post-season bowl game will be played on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 5:40 p.m. CST at LP Field in Nashville.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this year's game date and time, and believe it gives us the ideal window for maximizing fan travel and engaging local fans,” said Brad Lampley, Bowl Chair. “Our ESPN time slot will allow us to showcase to the nation both the pageantry of BOWL Week and the other New Year's festivities in Music City. It will be the perfect kick-off for New Year's weekend.”
The 2011 game will mark the sixth Bowl match-up between the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in Nashville. The Bowl’s partnership with the ACC and SEC runs through the 2013 college football season.
Last year’s game featured the University of North Carolina defeating the University of Tennessee, 30-27, in front of a record attendance of 69,143. A 4.9 national television ranking marked the highest rating in the Bowl’s 13-year history, and was the second highest viewership for a non-BCS bowl game on ESPN (7,106,725).
Renewals for 2011 ticket holders will be sent mid-May and tickets will go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on Sept. 1. Premium ticket packages are currently available, which include prime ticket locations, hospitality benefits and corporate exposure.
