For eight years, Taste of Country Cookin’ has brought family cooking to Seymour courtesy of two sisters, Vickie Sutton and Pat Morrisette.
Morrisette had long been a cook, employing her talent for churches, when they decided to start a business.  It soon became a family affair, with the sisters handling the cooking along with Sutton’s niece Trina Tate.
Their aim is to create the feel of home cooking, with a different hot meal everyday and classics like chicken and dumplings, and barbeque.  The customer favorite is chicken salad croissants.  The interior reflects their style, decorated for a homey look, with pictures of actual family members on the walls.
“They make everyone feel like they’re friendly and at home,” said Susan Wilson, a close friend.
Sutton said the restaurant is successful, but has slowed down lately, which she attributes to the economy.
Regular customers make up the majority of their business, coming in from Sevierville and Knoxville, and people from out of state who make the trip back.
“They come in and spend the day,” Sutton said. “I like it because I like the people.
“It’s like having a second family.”
Taste of Country Cookin’ is located at 12223 Chapman Hwy., next to Floyd’s Market.
