The Sevier County Water Department is now operating and accepting applications from residents in the Richardson’s Cove and Pearl Valley areas.  For customers in those areas who sign up before May 6, their tap fees can be cut in half.
“We’re pleased to be in business and look forward to providing service to our citizens,” said Water Department Superintendent Roger Sims. “We wanted to offer potential customers on county-owned and operated water lines a thank you, and discounted tap fees seemed like a good way to do that.”
Larry Justus was the first customer to sign up for service on the Richardson Cove water line. The water line on Jones Cove Road is currently being tested and should be in service soon. When that line is ready, those residents will also be eligible for reduced tap fees for a limited time.
The Sevier County Water Department was formed to provide water service to residents outside the cities in the county. It began operating in February and completed its first billing cycle in March from customers purchased from Newport Utilities.
