Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam named Sevier County as one of eight counties in need of financial assistance after heavy February flooding.
The request sent to the U.S. Small Business Association calls for loan assistance for small businesses and individuals in Knox and surrounding counties, including Sevier.
In addition, Haslam requested the federal government to declare 13 counties eligible for federal public assistance programs.
Haslam indicated that the assistance provided to affected counties by FEMA and the SBA will go a long way toward their full recovery.
