The Maryville College men’s golf team finished in 15th place after a three round team total of 911 during their first spring action at the 2011 Jekyll Island Tournament at Pine Lakes Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia on Sunday.
MC senior Trey Bridwell set a course and tournament record during his second round on Saturday. Bridwell completed the 6,700 yard, par 72 second round in 64 shots. The Scot standout recorded a three round effort of (74-64-71) for a 209 total. His effort was nine under par and it earned one of the region’s top golfers a second place individual finish.
Fellow senior Jeremy Cason also had an exceptional tournament. Cason shot a (75-71-72) for a total of 218. His even par performance placed him 14th in the 146 golfer field.
Three additional MC linksters helped in the team’s 911 finish. J.T. Randolph (116th ) recorded a (85-77-80-242) effort. Eric Hall (128th) finished with a (76-92-83-251) tournament. Joakim Leegaard (138th) added a (84-84-88-256) outing.
