Maryville College senior basketball standout Eryk Watson, a native of Powder Spring, Georgia, has been named a 2nd Team All-American selection by D3hoops.com.
The D3hoops.com honor chose Watson from 680 NCAA Division III players nationwide nominated by the Sports Information Directors at member institutions.
During 107 games in the Orange and Garnet, the 6’3” wing has deposited 1,943 career points averaging 18.1 points per game. Watson has been named to the All-Great South Athletic Conference team on four occasions after earning GSAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2007-08. Eryk was named Pre-Season All-American by D3hoops.com prior to his junior campaign where he finished the season throwing down 17.1 points a game and shooting 82% from the free-throw line.
This 2010-11 Sporting News Pre-Season All-American, GSAC Player of the Year, and 1st Team All-Region performer finished his senior campaign with a 24.1 points per game scoring average ranking his scoring efforts No.7 within the NCAA Division III. He was also ranked nationally in his perimeter game. Watson was 8th nationally in three-point field-goal percentage (47.2) and 6th nationally in three-point field-goals per game (3.6). He also had the 14th best single game scoring within Division III this season with his 41 point effort against Thomas More.
Watson helped the Scots achieve an 83-25 record over the past four seasons while earning three trips to the NCAA post-season.
Eryk is the fourth individual chosen under Maryville head coach Randy Lambert's direction to earn All-American accolades. Sidney Ellis earned All-American honors in 2004 and 2005. Center Bobby Golden earned the honor after his 2007 campaign while Greg Hernandez was honored in 2011 for his work in the post.
