They say all good things must come to an end and that is the case with the highly successful season of the Seymour Lady Eagle basketball team.
The Lady Eagles had an outstanding record of 21 wins and 10 losses.  Their region championship dream came to an end recently in Johnson City as they were defeated by Science Hill 83-40 in the opening round of the Region 1-AAA.
The Lady Eagles never were quite in the game from the very start as the Lady Toppers got out to a 23-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
It got worse for Seymour as the halftime score stood 53-18 Science Hill.
The 3rd and 4th quarters were more of the same as the game came to a merciful end.
Shae Brown led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 11 as the senior played her last game for the Blue and Gold.
She is joined by senior teammates Ashley McCarter, Hanna Moore and Brittany Cook.
Head Coach Brandi Stallings has done a tremendous job in her first year at Seymour.  
It’s also encouraging that many of her top players return.  The seniors will be missed but the future looks bright for Stallings and the Lady Eagles.
Key players returning will be rising seniors Jordan Ballard at wing and Brittany Seagle at guard along with Cydnee Harrell and Kelsey Davis, rising juniors will be Kasey Norman at point and Erin Fine at forward and rising sophomores will be Mariah Flynn at post and Lexi Justus at forward.
Big things will be expected from Flynn after the outstanding season she had as a freshman.  As the season went on, she became a dominant force inside; virtually unstoppable in some games.
Brittany Seagle will return as one of if not the best 3 point shooter in the IMAC.
Jordan Ballard should be even more effective at forward where she led the team in scoring several games this past season.  The Lady Eagles failed to win a championship at the district, Region or state level but they piled up one of the better records in the history of the Seymour Lady Eagle basketball with 21 wins.
Besides Stallings, Seymour was coached by assistants Gene Huskey and Julie Maples.
The Seymour Herald would like to congratulate the Lady Eagles on a very good season.
