The Great South Athletic Conference has announced its first softball Player of the Week for the 2010-11 season with Maryville’s Leah Kelley named to the honor.
Kelley, a native of Louisville,  is the league’s Player of the Week after the junior college transfer went 11-for-20 at the plate (.550) while scoring eight runs, posting a .609 on base percentage, and slugging at incredible .950 pace.
On the week, Kelley recorded seven singles, a double, a pair of triples, and a grand slam homerun for a total of five runs batted in. Against Peace College in the Emory University Invitational Kelley hit for the cycle to help the Scots earn their first win of the season.
Defensively, the shortstop fielded at a .955 clip with 10 putouts and 11 assists in 22 total chances.
