Dr. C. Bryce Bowling, a urogynecologist, recently joined the medical staff at The University of Tennessee Medical Center.
A urogynecologist is a gynecologist with advanced training and education in the evaluation and treatment of women with urinary symptoms (including bladder pain, involuntary leakage and frequent urination), bowel symptoms (including involuntary leakage and constipation) and pelvic relaxation defects.
“My goal as urogynecologist for The University of Tennessee Medical Center is to assist the women of East Tennessee and the surrounding area with debilitating issues related to the pelvic floor,” Dr. Bowling said. “Lifestyle-limiting issues such as pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence of the bowel and/or bladder are treatable conditions but, many times, are unfortunately viewed as part of the normal aging process. They are not; several therapies are available to help improve and/or cure these conditions.”
A Knoxville native and Bearden High School graduate, Bowling graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He received his medical degree from The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis and remained in Memphis for his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed an accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB).
"We are pleased to have Dr. Bowling and his expertise as an addition to our women's program at The University of Tennessee Medical Center,” said Peggy Hotz, Vice President for Women and Children’s Health at UT Medical Center. “His skills further broaden our abilities to provide the best gynecological care in the region."
Bowling is married to family practice physician Dr. Lisa Bowling. The couple has a daughter, Reagan.
