A long time Seymour landmark is now on the market.
White Star Market, arguably one of the most well known businesses in Seymour, has recently been put up for sale by owner Phil White.
The market was built by original owners Bill and Jane White, Phil’s parents, and its doors first opened in October of 1975.
For the last 35-plus years White Star has offered gas, food, groceries, and their famous “White Star hot dogs.”
The business is still a family affair, but Phil said he is ready to retire.
“I’m just really ready to slow down,” he said. “We’re not going out of business, we are just for sale.”
He added that he put the business on the market just to start the process, and he expects it to be for sale for some time.
“Only time will tell (when it will sell),” he said.
The 3,800 building is currently for sale for $1,350,000 and includes the White Star business, as well as all of the furniture, fixtures, equipment and inventory in the building.
