A Sevier County man is dead after attacking a homeowner, his mother and a female guest of the homeowner.
Officers responded to 1715 E. Union Valley Road in Seymour at approximately 10 a.m. Monday after a female 911 caller said to 911 dispatchers that she had been attacked by a person and her throat had been cut and another woman had been stabbed.
The female caller, identified as Amy Lowery, 31 of Kodak, also told dispatchers that the male homeowner, Matthew Bowen had shot the attacker.
Officers arrived on the scene and found that the two women and Bowen had been attacked and had sustained cuts and stab wounds.
County officers then found a 36-year-old man, identified as Michael Hutton of Sevierville, dead in a bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound.
Lowery and Bowen were transported to UT Hospital in Knoxville and the other woman, 68 Seymour resident Diane Bowen, suffered a cut on the face and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The investigation has revealed that the attacker was an acquaintance of the occupants of the home and was apparently invited to the home by Bowen.
The motive of the attack on the occupants of the home is still unknown at this time.
An autopsy will be performed on Hutton to determine the exact cause of death.
The incident is under investigation by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division and no other details are available at this time.
