Two Knox County men have been arrested after a pursuit that started in Sevier County early Tuesday.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. Tuesday morning a Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Observed two vehicles driving erratically on north-bound Chapman Hwy.
The officer stopped one of the vehicles and the driver informed the officer that the subjects in the other vehicle had a gun and that they had shot into the car.
The officer then attempted to stop the other vehicle, a white Nissan Sentra occupied by two men, and it failed to stop at the officer’s signal.
Officers pursued the car onto Kimberlain Heights Rd. where the vehicle ran off the roadway and rolled over.
The driver, Adman A Ismail, 19, and the passenger, Yusif Assad Hamed, 18, both of Knoxville, refused medical treatment at the scene and were transported to Sevier County Jail where they were arraigned before a Magistrate.
Upon investigation, it was determined that there was a bullet hole in the red Honda Accord driven by the other party, but the officers were unable to locate a weapon in the Nissan at the time of arrest.
Ismail is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and underage consumption of alcohol. Hamed is charged with aggravated assault and underage consumption of alcohol.
Both men are under a $7,500 bond and are being held in Sevier County Jail pending bond.
A Jan. 26 hearing date has been set in Sevier County General Sessions Court.
