The City’s Department of Tourism has recognized a prestigious group of entries as winners in the 2010 Gatlinburg Winter Magic Decorating Contest.
Categories included displays of many kinds entered in retail, attractions, service, restaurant and lodging divisions.
Entries were judged based on four criteria: Overall Appearance, Originality and Creativity, Theme and Quality of Display.
The judges were representatives from the Gatlinburg Garden Club who personally inspected all the entries and scored them accordingly.
Results of the judging as announced by the Special Events Office include the following winners:
Best All New Display: First – Runningbear’s Den in Mountain Mall; Second – Cabins for You on Cartertown Road; Third – Candle Cottage in The Village
Best Restaurant Display: First – Log Cabin Pancake House on Historic Nature Trail; Second – Jordan’s Creamery in The Village
Best Window Display: First – Gatlinburlier Tobacconist in Mountain Mall; Second – The Silver Tree in The Village; Third – Smoky Mountain Babies in The Village
Best Attraction: First – Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies on River Road; Second – Christ in the Smokies Museum & Gardens on River Road; Third – Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum on Parkway
Best Retail (Large Display): First – Santa’s Claus-et on Glades Road; Second – Another Me Clothier in The Village; Third – Magic & Novelty Outlet in Mountain Mall
Best Retail (Small Display): First – Black Bear Tea Company in Mountain Mall; Second – The Honey Pot in The Village; Third – The Hayloft Comfort Shoes in The Village
Best Accommodations: First – Gillette Motel on Historic Nature Trail; Second – Gatehouse Condominiums on Roaring Fork Extension
Best Mall: First – The Village
