South Knoxville’s newest medical office and diagnostic center, Mercy Ambulatory Care Center South, opened for patients on December 15.
Located in the “Heart of South Knoxville” at 7323 Chapman Highway across from Walmart, Mercy South will have a full array of diagnostic medical services including:
CT scanning unit capable of performing cardiac studies; Dexa scan (bone density test); Digital X-ray; Electrocardiogram – EKG (a test that can diagnose problems with the electrical activity of the heart); Digital mammography; Outpatient lab; Pre-admission testing; Ultrasound testing (including echocardiogram tests that use sound waves to create a moving picture of the heart).
The new outpatient center will have offices for primary care doctors and physician specialists.  Some of the specialties that will be at Mercy South location include:
 Allergy & Immunology; Cardiology; Dermatology; Ear, Nose and Throat; Endoscopy; General Surgery; Internal Medicine; Pulmonology; Sleep Medicine; Urology.
“Mercy is continuing to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the people of South Knoxville through the many services offered in this new facility,” said Jeff Ashin, President and CEO of Mercy Health Partners.  “It will serve as a one-stop destination for the people of South Knoxville for their heatlhcare services in a beautifully restored building.
“I am proud of our efforts to renovate this former grocery store into a medical mall with space for diagnostic services and physician offices.  We are being good stewards of our resources by recycling this building for healthcare use.”
Mercy spent more than $2 million to renovate 37,000 square feet of space in the old Food City Building.
