For the last-minute Christmas shopper, or for any occasion year round, Seymour Flea Market is a great place to find just about anything shoppers are looking for.
Bud Counsil and his wife, Nancy, opened Seymour Flea Market in its current location eight years ago and do their best to provide the community with affordable and unique finds.
“We try to provide a cheaper way for people to buy Christmas presents, or every day presents year round,” Bud said. “We sell just about anything, even cars, you never know what you’ll find here.”
Some of the market’s items include dolls, televisions, antiques, stuffed animals, beds, couches, Native American items, Christmas décor, and clothing.
The list of merchandise could go on and on, and Bud said they are more than just a flea market.
“It’s a flea market, but it is more of a mom and pop store than a flea market,” he said. “We try to put our prices where the everyday working man can afford to come in and buy things here.”
Bud added that the store is also affordable for anyone who may be living on Social Security.
“We’ll compete with anybody on prices,” he said. “We’re one of the cheapest places you can find.
“If you need something, check here first because we’re liable to have it.
“We have so much stuff that you might want to stop in here and it will probably be the cheapest place that you are going to find.”
Even though Bud and Nancy have a plethora of merchandise at the market, Bud said that business has been slow over the past few months.
“It’s the combination of the economy and people losing their jobs,” he said. “A lot of people around here aren’t working so it is a little slow for that reason.”
Even though times are tough, Bud urges the community to come out to Seymour Flea Market and find great deals on items.
“We’re on our last leg here,” he said. “If something doesn’t happen soon then we won’t be around much longer.”
Seymour Flea Market is located at 13305 Chapman Hwy. and the office number is 908-8113. Normal store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, but the market is now open every day through Christmas Eve.
