Burglary and theft numbers were low for Seymour over the long holiday weekend. However, 36 total burglary and theft cases were reported in Sevier County.
Seymour had just four cases of theft over Thanksgiving weekend, but the same cannot be said for Sevierville. Sevierville had 19 burglary and theft reported during the same time period.
Of the thefts reported in Seymour, the first was reported at Danny’s Pizza, 11503 Chapman Hwy., at 1:15 p.m. The second was reported at 5:59 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Cornflower Ct.
The third reported theft occurred at 1:44 a.m. Sunday in the 10600 block of Chapman Hwy., and the fourth incident over the holiday weekend was a report of a stolen vehicle at 6:51 p.m. on Chapman Hwy.
The majority of the total 37 burglary and thefts reported in the county occurred in Sevierville. The lowest amount of burglaries and thefts was on Thanksgiving Day.
Only seven cabin rental burglaries were reported in Sevier County, which is not necessarily high, according to Sevierville Public Information Officer Bob Stahlke.
According to officials this may have been because many of the rentals were full this weekend with tourists who came in for the holiday.
