Even during hard economic times for most, the students of Seymour High School demonstrated their commitment to the community by donating 1,769 food items to C.R.O.S.S. Ministries.
For the past two weeks, students have collected canned food, macaroni and cheese and peanut butter to help feed the needy.
A committee of students, led by Stephanie and Tiffany Jennings, Amanda Smith, Aryn Brannon and Dustin Henson, collected the cans from homerooms, separated the items according to type and loaded the C.R.O.S.S. truck on Nov. 17.
Charles Householder’s homeroom led the way with a donation of 289 items and Pamela Stoffle’s class donated 185 items.
“So often teenagers only make the news when things go wrong,” said Stoffle, a freshman English teacher at SHS. “We want Seymour to know that our students desire to make good things happen by doing for others.”
