Cruisin’ Seymour continues to grow in popularity six months after its inception in April.
Residents from Seymour and Sevier and Knox counties continue to drive their “cruising machines” up to the Wendy’s and Seymour Pharmacy parking lot ever Friday for the weekly cruise.
One of the cruisers last week was Doug Terry who owns a 1955 T-Bird that is just the one he had in high school.
Terry brought photos of the first T-Bird taken of him and his brother. When he bought the current T-Bird 15 years ago he took another photo just like the old high school shot.
He is a member of the Smoky Mountain T-Bird Club Classics. The club does a lot with their cars including trips, shows and cruises.
His car was bought in the present condition and he is enjoying this one just as much as he did his first car.
Another cruiser was Bobbie Boyle who owns a 1967 Chevy 427 four speed with 51,000 original miles with an original motor and transmission.
Boyle is a native Virginian, but has lived in the Seymour area for about three years.
He bought the Chevy from ProTeam in Napoleon, Ohio after searching on the internet. ProTeam specializes in Corvettes.
Another interesting fact about the car is that it came with its original window sticker.
Cruisin’ Seymour averages about 80 cars a cruise and everyone is welcome to come to the cruise and bring any type of vehicle they own.
The event is held every Friday at 5 p.m. in the Macon Crossing Shopping Center parking lot.
In addition to the, a DJ spins oldies music and many local restaurants offer discounts to cruisers.
