The Maryville College women's soccer team used a balanced offense to take their 6th conference win of the season today against the visiting Pioneers of Wesleyan College as the Scots triumphed with a 12-0 victory to kick-off the homecoming festivities.
Freshman forward Ashley Howarth opened the scoring off of a Jessica Petersen assist and the pair would go on to record seven of the Scots goals with Howarth scoring three to give her 18 on the season and Petersen scoring four giving MC's all-time leading goal scorer 11 on the season.  The scoring was concluded with junior forward Alex Wingo and Freshman forward Pheobe Leo each having two goals each, and sophomore defender Kelsie Kestner scoring her first goal of the season.  Defensively the shutout was shared by goalkeepers Desi Simmons and freshman Michelle Foulke.
The win give the Scots an overall record of 9-5-1 and a conference record of 6-0-0 keeping the Scots in 1st place in the conference as they go into next Saturday's final conference match vs Agnes Scott College.
The Scots next game is a home non-conference match up with Tennessee Wesleyan College on Thursday evening with kick-off set for 7 pm.
