A Knoxville man has been arrested and another suspect is being sought by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department in connection with rental cabin burglaries in Sevier County.
Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said that Gene F. Riggs, 25, of Knoxville, was arrested Monday evening after being found in possession of flat screen TVs taken from two cabins on Sept. 20.
The burglarized cabins are located in the Ski Mountain/Wiley Oakley area.
Seals added that the TVs had tracking devices in them and that they were tracked after being stolen, which led Sevier Co. Detectives to the home where Riggs lived.
Another suspect has been charged and is being sought at this time.
Riggs was transported back to Sevier County where he was arraigned before a Magistrate and a $20,000 bond was set.
An Oct. 25 hearing date has been scheduled in General Sessions Court.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jim Huddleston at (865) 428-1899.
