The Seymour High School Baseball Booster Club is “Smoking for a Good Cause”.
There isn’t much better than Friday night football, smoked pork barbecue, and sweet tea in the south.  You can smell the hickory smoke aroma throughout Benton Householder Field on Friday nights in Seymour this year.
For each home game the baseball booster club sets up their pop-ups and tables with a smoker full of barbecue.  They even have two of the Eagles cheerleaders, Aebri Graham and Abigail Rice, who take peanuts and caramel apples throughout the crowd.
The booster club was formed in January of this year to help raise money for an indoor hitting and pitching facility for Coach Norman's baseball team.
Supporters of the program realized that there was a need for a facility that the players could use year round, especially during the winter months.
The Friday night barbecue is the first of many fundraisers that the booster club has scheduled this year.  The main fundraiser will be a golf tournament May 5 2011 at Eagles Landing golf course.
Sign-up forms will be available through the booster club and coaching staff.
Look for information on the 2011 Lead Off Banquet coming soon.  Last year’s event had over 200 people including Barney and Gomer.
Come out and watch the Eagles take on the Smokey Bears Oct. 1 and have a barbecue sandwich and sweet tea from the Seymour Baseball Booster Club.
