Fans of Scottish music and culture will want to be on hand when Colin Grant-Adams visits Walters State Community College in Morristown and Greeneville Sept. 24.
Grant-Adams is an acclaimed musician and performer known for his tributes to Scotland in song and stories. He will perform at 9:15 a.m. in room 100 at the Walters State Greeneville/Greene County Center for Higher Education and again at 1:30 p.m. in the Humanities Quadrangle on the Morristown campus. (In case of rain, the performance will be moved inside the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex.) Both performances are open to the public and are free.
Grant-Adams was awarded an Artist in Residence Fellowship from the Glasgow Highland Games of Kentucky, which gave him a chance to study and compose original music about the early-century Scots who arrived in America.
Since, he has performed at countless festivals and a variety of venues including Carnegie Hall. He is noted for his exuberating vocals, intricate fiery guitar and his irresistible humor. His performance will include original work, traditional Celtic work and even some bluegrass.
